Following a delegated or implementing act
A delegated or implementing act is found in the Delegated & implementing acts tab of the Procedures card, and is followed with the bell icon.
Where what will actually apply is settled, once the political text has been voted.
In detail
The regulation adopted in codecision sets the principle. The delegated or implementing act sets the threshold, the calculation method, the date of entry into force, the list of substances. For many sectors, that is where the real impact lies, and it is a stage less watched than the political text.
Finding the act
- From the list. Search > Procedures > Delegated & implementing acts, filter by body, by type or by status.
- From the committee. On a committee’s profile, the Consultations tab lists the acts referred to it.
- Follow it. The bell icon on an act notifies you of its documents, its contributions and its publication in the Official Journal.
The whole chain, in one sentence
A draft act is published, often for public consultation, it is examined by a committee or prepared by an expert group, it goes to a vote whose voting sheet is published, then it appears in the Official Journal of the Union. In Dixit, you follow the act from its consultation to its publication, and a committee’s profile shows the acts referred to it.
The window for action
Between publication of the draft and the vote in committee, a few weeks usually pass. That is short, and it is precisely why following exists: to discover an implementing act in the Official Journal is to discover it too late.
The register is updated regularly from Commission sources.
