What is covered in Brussels and Strasbourg?
Dixit brings together the European Parliament’s plenary reports and the transcription of videos from the Parliament, the Council and the Commission.
The Parliament, the Council and the Commission, and what you get for each.
In detail
Dixit combines available official reports with automatic transcripts of the EU institutional videos it covers.
| Institution | What you get |
|---|---|
| European Parliament | Plenary report when published, plus timestamped transcripts of covered video |
| Council of the EU | Automatic transcripts of covered public sessions |
| European Commission | Automatic transcripts of press conferences, the midday briefing, conferences and speeches published on the Commission’s audiovisual portal |
Multilingual coverage
The transcript recognises English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and follows language changes within the same meeting. Parliament and Council interventions may also be available in searchable English translation when Dixit provides one.
How the transcript is produced
In the European Parliament, the transcription relies on a dedicated vocabulary: the names of MEPs, which allows a proper noun to be written correctly. For the Council and the Commission, it works without a dedicated vocabulary. Dixit then attributes interventions to their speaker when the speaker is identified with certainty, which makes the text usable and search by person possible.
What changes by institution
In the Parliament, attribution relies on the list of MEPs by name. In the Council, interventions are presented by member state, never by name. For the Commission, the timecode takes you back to the video to confirm who is speaking.
