Understand where an EU file really stands
Where an EU file stands shows on its procedure page, which gathers the Commission, Parliament and Council documents tab by tab.
The official calendar says little. Here is what says more.
In detail
In the Parliament tab you find the text and the amendments, separated between the committees asked for an opinion and the lead committee. The documents of the Council’s preparatory bodies are in their own tab.
The earliest signal
It is the Council documents. A file that appears in the work of a working party or of Coreper is moving, often several weeks before a Parliament publication lets you guess it. If you are only going to look at one tab on a sensitive file, look at that one.
