My first three steps
On day one, create an alert in English, follow your EU procedure with the bell and open a European Commission consultation in your sector.
What to do on day one, and nothing more.
In detail
- Create an alert on your subject, in English. On the home page, click the Create a keyword alert card. English is not a preference, it is a necessity: European documents are in English and Dixit searches for the words you write, without translating them.
- Follow the procedure you are working on. Search > Procedures, Legislations tab, open the file, click the bell icon. You will receive every publication from the Commission, the Parliament and the Council on that file.
- Open a consultation under way in your sector. Search > European Commission > Consultations. There you will see what the other stakeholders have filed, often months before the text exists.
Why this order
The alert works without you. The procedure gives you the calendar. The consultation gives you the balance of forces, that is to say the information that is hardest to obtain any other way and the one that genuinely changes a strategy.
